Vehicle Description
Fully Restored 1931 Chrysler Series 70 Coupe is featured in Two-Tone Beige with saddle Leather Interior. Nicknamed the 'Root Beer Float', this vehicle was delivered new in Birmingham, Alabama. Drivetrain features the 268 CID L-Head Inline 6-Cylinder Engine with a single Stromberg carburetor, output of 93 BHP at 3,200 RPM, mated to a 3-speed manual transmission. The electrical system has been updated to 12V with a 50 AMP alternator. Walter Chrysler insisted on 4-wheel hydraulic drum brakes on all his vehicles with suspension that featured front beam axle with semi-elliptical leaf springs and rear semi-elliptical leaf springs attached to a live rear axle. An ideal example of early 1930s American practical luxury. Options include: Roll Up Windshield, Windshield Visor, Rear Sunshade, Dual Spares, Dual Exterior Mirrors, Footwell Air Vents and Aftermarket Horns. This was a time when Chrysler was producing some of the highest quality vehicles on the market, just 3 years after their impressive showing at Le Mans with a Podium 3rd place and a 4th place finishing, making him "Time" magazine's Man of the Year. In the past few years, this vehicle has successfully participated in 2 vintage hillclimbs, a 100 mile Antique Tour, and earned a "Best in Class" at the Misslewood Concours D'Elegance. Under our ownership we have completed a service and rebuilt the fuel pump. The vehicle is mechanically sorted and all features function properly. Buy this turn key, restored, Chrysler classic with a 30-Day EAS Mechanical Warranty!
