Customized 1965 Mercedes-Benz 230SL featured in White (DB-050) with Blue Interior. This W113 chassis is a rust free vehicle that spent its life in California before we brought it to Massachusetts. Drivetrain features an upgraded 2.8 Liter six cylinder M130 motor (originally a 2.3) mated to its original four speed manual transmission with a new clutch. The rear differential gears were upgraded from a 4.08 original gear ratio to a 3.46 ratio to improve the quality and reduce the RPMs at higher speed driving. Seats have been upgraded to a firmer and more contoured seat. The idea behind this build was to keep the elegance of the things we love about the 230SL over a 280SL - center caps and trim rings, matching hardtop and center caps, old style chrome mirrors, no side markers, and no headrests - but to tastefully upgrade the early W113 driving performance and enjoyment of the ride. The m130 motor upgrade increased the horsepower by 17.5 % , from 148 to 174, and the rear differential gear change upgrade decreased the RPMs by 800 at 60 MPH. Service is up to date and we replaced all four tires, the front suspension springs, rear axle mount, and the shifter bushings. All upgrades used factory parts and the cosmetics still reflect the look of an original W113 230SL. Our test of the vehicle was a 3 day, 800 mile, New England Rally and the vehicle performed and finished without a flaw. Sale includes all paperwork, original books, and tool kit.
